A Message from the Mayor
As Mayor of Franklin County, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our website and our community. I hope that our newly designed website offers easy navigation and useful information.
The 576 square miles of Franklin County offers a wealth of opportunity to all that visit or call us home. With varied cities and communities amid friendly faces, stunning natural beauty, and a productive economy, Franklin County is an outstanding place to live, work and raise a family.
One of our priorities is to lead our youth to excellence through quality Educational Opportunities. Our new Franklin County High School is state of the art and promotes the desire for higher education which can easily be achieved at one of the various universities located in Franklin County and surrounding communities; Motlow State Community College, The University of the South at Sewanee, and the University of Tennessee Space Institute.
It is also important to recognize our diversified manufacturing base that is vibrant with employment opportunities in the automotive industry and research and testing facilities, among other trades. In addition, our progressive business community and thriving entrepreneurial development at our Franklin County Business Development Center make Franklin County a competitive and progressive county in Tennessee.
Franklin County has a rich history that can be recognized at various historic locations throughout the county including Falls Mill, the Cowan Road Museum and Tunnel, the old Jail Museum, and the stunning campus of The University of the South at Sewanee; And that is just to name a few!!
Another feature of Franklin County is the exceptional Tims Ford Reservoir which is a gathering place for numerous year round outdoor activities such as fishing tournaments, family hiking excursions, and backwoods camping trips. There is also Tims Ford State Park which includes a Jack Nicholas golf course!
